Season one of the reality competition series America's Got Talent premiered on NBC on Tuesday, May 16, 2017. Nick Cannon debuted as host. Howie Mandel, Mel B, Heidi Klum, and Simon Cowell debuted as judges.

Dunkin' Donuts sponsored the show; this season featured the Golden Buzzer. Four guest judges were invited to judge during the judge's cuts; P!nk, Drake, Conan O'Brien, and Melanie Martinez.

Preliminary auditionsEdit

Auditions in front of the judges began on February 19, 2017 at the Pasadena Civic Auditorium in Pasadena, California. The premiere aired on May 16, 2017.

The season had preliminary open call auditions in Detroit, New York City, Phoenix, Salt Lake City, Las Vegas, San Jose, San Diego, Kansas City, Los Angeles, Atlanta, Orlando, and Dallas.

Golden BuzzerEdit

This season featured the Golden Buzzer where each judge would send an act straight to the live shows. Golden buzzer were only applicable during judge cuts.

Judge CutsEdit

The Judge Cuts began on Tuesday, June 27, 2017 and ended on Wednesday, July 5, 2017. One guest judge will join the judges' panel in each week. Each guest judge will be given one golden buzzer opportunity to send an act straight to the live shows. Twenty acts will be shown each week, and eight will advance, including golden buzzers. Guest judges will not be given a red buzzer to use. Any act that received all four red buzzers will be immediately eliminated from the competition. The four guest judges are P!nk, Drake, Conan O'Brien, and Melanie Martinez. After the Judge Cuts, four wildcards were selected to compete in the live shows: Kyra Bain, Randy Comstock, Sidella, and Brian McLeod.

QuarterfinalsEdit

The live quarterfinals are being held in the Dolby Theatre, starting on July 12, 2017. They will feature the 32 acts passed through during the Judge Cuts round and four wildcard acts chosen by the producers and judges. Each week, twelve acts will perform. Seven will go through, while five will be eliminated.

After all the judges had answered, he opened the box and unfolded the note to reveal predictions he had written beforehand on what the judges would answer. The note had all the correct answers.
